Nice tool. Obviously a work in progress, but showing a lot of promise. Frankly, it's already miles beyond the first JS paint chat programs I worked with. I miss pressure sensing. The current way of doing it in Windows sucks ass, so I can understand why people aren't eager to implement it.

Web browsers are trying to standardize pressure sensitivity natively with Pointer Events, but of course that may take a while. For now, the only thing I know that works is the Wacom plugin, but it only works in 32-bit browsers.

My future plan is to allow guest drawing and add a voting/highlighting system.

Thanks to the draw of social networks, oekaki will stay dead as long as people have to register an account to draw. Getting creative with community moderation (where you have to register to vote) might bring back the glory days when people could draw whatever the heck they wanted. It sounds like a bad idea, but it tends to work really well on news aggregation sites and doesn't foster as nasty an environment as chan boards. It's worth a try.

All the social networks require registering in order to post anything too. One model I've seen on other paint chats is different "rooms." The skill levels on 2draw, for example (though it looks like those are gone, now). One room could be a sandbox where unregistered people could make a mess. Perhaps drawings there only live a set amount of time before being deleted, so if anybody wants to create anything lasting, they have to register.
