Wow, Sean! Way to go. Using flat paint tool to shade instead of fuzzy dodge/burn makes thigs look much more solid. Nice values, you should do several black and white drawings with NO LINEART! It will teach you how to judge shades against each other for greater clarity. The Red is a nice hue. The penis is kinda bright, a lighter value than all the darks. So it stands out a bit but maybe that's the point? I almost think this doesn't need teh coxxor to be sexy and erotic.

This song has been stuck in my head,

You and I and George,
went strolling,
through the park one day.
And then,
You held my hand,
as if to say,
I love you.
Then, we passed a brook,
and George fell in and drown himself,
and floated out to sea
leaving you
alone
with meeeeeeee.

Flame away! These are my 3 best known faces: My fursona, my "Signature" dunk tank clown face, and my regular look when in the off-season from being a carny. During the carnival season (Except when I work West Palm Beach), I tend not to have a goatee though. Also the scars on my sideburn and eyebrow do exist, except I accidentally put them on their opposite sides.

A little self-confidence.

That is a jacket I wear a lot. It doesn't quite fit me, it's a man's jacket and my hips/bum are too wide. Plus the zipper is broken. But it looks cool, and it goes *squeakysqueakysquitch* when I move.

So I edited the face a little. I have freckles.

Oh, in case you could not figure this out, this is not a character, it is me. It is a self portrait of what I look like in real life (Although maybe a bit slimmer for vanity's sake), I am that person. I am a real human woman and I look more or less like that. That is my hair and those are my clothes and SOMETIMES I'm really sarcastic.

OMG it doesn't end. >_<

@seraph. YES i do, i think it is possible, but i DON"T think it was an art quality insult! that was the point i was trying to make, esp since everyone in response to bass man commented on the art quality of his work.

Blank him for a possible insult on subject matter
But not for an insult on ART quality.

an no, seraph. I like and respect rosie o'donnell but I am a large chicka, so if i drew myself and was refered to her, i woudn't necc be insulted. Now if you don't like rosie but think horrible of her, then yeah, it is an insult. just depends on how ya look at it.

and forgive seraph, I do not know your gender, and it would be much more insultive of bassman's comment if you are not female, and i am assuming you are.

nimbus @ Sunday, January 4th 2009, 8:35 AM
Umm...I think the "My God" part would tend to indicate this was meant as an insult. And while that is, in itself, no reflection of the art work per se, it's an incredibly juvenile thing to say and seems typical of Bassman's mind set. And I believe that's what Seraph was responding to - her retort seems to be one of sheer exasperation. So, Bassman; comment on the quality of the work, not on your opinion of the subject...it has no bearing on the matter and makes you look like a jerk.

Bassman, it's not impossible for you to eventually find your place here. We felt very much the same way about Sean as we do about you in the beginning, but he made great efforts at improving his art and his attitude. If anyone else had said what you said, it probably would have gone unnoticed. But you generally have an attitude problem around here that is completely unwarranted because you are quite frankly nowhere near as refined an artist as anyone else on this board.

Maybe go away to oekakicentral.com for awhile and use their practice boards or something and come back when you've improved and matured.

BassMan, I did not want to take shit to this point but your second comment was just horrible and proves you have no grasp of your own problems. I was like you once. My art wasnt that good and I was disliked because of it. I was an obnoxoius ass like most 17 years olds with internet access are. I wasn't wanted on DTP by a number of people, but I kept pushing through because of support and the kinds words of folks like Sabine and Wac. Today I do my best to be mature about the way I treat people and hand out my criticism.

I DO NOT however, make snide backhanded insults, and then try to back it up with more unintelligable drivel. It doesn't matter that you weren't trying to insult Seraph. What matters is that it was taken the wrong way. Any person with a hint of tact would have apologized and left it be, but instead you went and tried to validate your insult. This is the kind of behavior I expect off 4chan, not a respected artist's board.

I don't see any hope for you AssMan. The only person to even back you up on this just up and renounced it and plenty of people here would agree your art isn't getting any better. Go somewhere like Bluefurry or Immorakaki if you want to be an idiot. We don't need them here.

Honestly I don't draw on Oekaki boards often anymore. This board has been my oekaki-ing place of choice for years because of the good people, fun artists and the lackadaisical attitudes we usually all have. However, BassMan has been offensive to me in the past, without reason, and obviously continues to be so to others. He's an asshole. I've just stopped coming and posting because well, lets just say that the board has gone down hill for a while now. I'm not trying to be an elitist bitch, this isn't about art quality, this rant is about the quality of people. I don't see why we put up with people who have nothing to offer this group. At one point, I thought a lot of us were pretty decently close friends, and that was a good thing. Now well, I don't post, and I know some other people have moved on and have busy lives, but i cant be the only one who doesn't post because people are dicks around here lately. Anyhow, that was tangential and TLDR, but anyways. I wouldn't be opposed to bannings happening. :|

Group Project idea: The Beach Hotel

I mentioned before that I had some ideas for a group project, so I’m going to run this one up the flagpole and see who salutes. My idea is to make a VERY simple Flash point-and-click “game” about walking around a hotel and interacting with the people of DTP.

Everyone could draw their own room, characters, dialogue, and for the more ambitious, animations and puzzles. There will be of course other locations, such as the lobby, corridors, the lift, the bar, the outside, staff areas etc, so if you want to do more, you can. I thought so that the characters can use the other locations, that there could be a day and night version where areas open and close or get more populated.

It would be relatively easy to stitch together in Flash, so it’s unlikely to disappear into the ether like most of my projects. Also I know a few of you know a little bit of actionscript, so the project wouldn’t die if sudden dropped of the face of the Earth.

Not sure on a theme just yet. The original Beach Hotel was a 19th century derelict that dominated the coast of our town. Spooky bloody looking place, and if you believed what you heard at school there was a number Jack Nicholson’s running around the place at any one time. However, grimy is harder to draw and I kida like the idea of a warm, beach resort myself.

Now I’ve bored you enough, anyone interested in this?

This kinda sounds like HTH but without the porn
How big should the picture size be and what sorts of limits do we have.

We could link our websites and art dumping grounds when we talk or click a item in the room like a passport or a suit case.

Its been a long time since I did any basic action scripting
might need to learn it all again.

No details yet. I want to see hows interested before I info dump. But yeah, first person perspective looking at static rooms to keep it simple. I like the website linking idea. I was going to have posters and books and draws for you to click on. Maybe some discussion trees with the characters (and maybe if I we want to really be clever, have them react different to the player if they are male or female or what-not).

You wouldn't need to do any of the coding crap (unless you want to), just the artwork. I can add All the clickable hot-spots to move from one picture to another. Personally, I would have had her room really bland and boring, and have the dungeon hidden in the basement.

No, I mentioned before that there's public areas, and I was planning on a day/night cycle so characters move about and areas open and lock. I will put a limit on the characters, and possibly have a bit of quality control in the public areas, so characters don't look too out of place.

Not sure yet, but most likely the latter. If there was a goal, it would have to be kept simple like finding all the keys or some shit (and I will make DAMN sure the ending is as dumb as possible). I'm pretty sure that making a full point and click adventure would be a nightmare to organize. I want to keep this as simple as possible to make it manageable. I've done group projects before, and getting a number of people who aren't getting paid on the same page is like herding cats. I want to keep it so that if someone doesn't finish, it doesn't matter. It'll still work without that persons work, but can still be added later if need be.

However, finding hidden stuff in one room by using another object found in another would be simple enough.

Suh-weet, I got a top-hat and a drink! I feel so... Dickensian!

Also, it looks like Tawny got a croquet mallet. At least, that's what I'm going to say that is.

If they're weapons for a future brawl, I think I'd want to stay on Tawny's good side :/ I'd say I feel left out, but I've been kinda busy with the new baby, so it's cool :) Merry Christmas, all!
