Agh, it is taking a monumental feat of will for me not to hit that View Animation button! I'm gonna hafta add more hands...

The "Da Vinci Cow'd"? You all really owe yourselves a look at the animation. So many sketches hidden under the surface: viewing them is like X-raying a canvas to see what the painter had originally intended, then altered. Even a really nice, nearly-done finale that should've been completed. Sigh: she throws away more, and better, than most of us can ever hope to do.

I hope that having a peek at my process helps folks to understand that it IS okay to change things and redraw them and that the eraser is a mighty, mighty tool! I have so many pages of doodles and scraps and unfinished nothings . . . and hardly any finished ANYTHINGS. I am somewhat of a perfectionist, and I get easily frustrated if things aren't looking exactly the way I want them. This mindset has helped me immensly, as far as pushing myself and bettering my art, as I never stop seeing little flaws. It pays off when I DO get something right (like how this pic is coming along). I cherish and appreciate the kind comments I recieve, because I often don't give myself much praise.

I usually spend a lot of time playing around with ideas on the basic sketch myself, but I tend to undo rather than erase, which is why you never see it in the replay. I usually draw with one hand on the pen and the other on Ctrl-Z.

I tried to colour her for a bit, but I'm just not feeling the art lately (hence my lack of posts for.... almost ever.) Thank you for making this beautiful line art though, it was nice to have the chance to play around with colour for a while =D. Your dot shading is beautiful by the way. And this is definately not of bad taste, I'm sure a beautiful mermaid such as this one would taste very very sweet.

I'm not sure what I'll do about the breast..It does look a bit odd...In the picture that inspired this the weight of it is being pulled to one side by gravity so it wouldn't look it's normal upright shape anyway. I'd upload the reference pic except I think it's copy righted. ...hmm maybe I'll clean the lense and bring it into focus.

Starting out on the soft side made it easier to keep the shading smooth and I kept resizing the airbrush from large to small to large again. Fanks ..Oh and the model reference image was a black and white image and I filled up the pallet with skin tones to use instead.
