So I guess maybe this needs explanation. I finally came out to my family after about 10 years of hiding everything from sketches to porn to internet browsing history to poorly explained visits to friends. It went well, with the majority of responses varying from "Ok." to "Knew it!" The only people unaware are my parents. That's going to be a tough sell. |
Nice drawing, I thought NOIP had returned at first. |
I actually know how you feel. There's only a small group of people I know who know about my comics and my ahtwork. That group has gotten significantly smaller with the recent passing of my friend. I'm surrounded by boring rednecks and yuppies and often wonder it would be like to live in a big city and hang out with more open minded artsy types. I like to think it would be like living in a sit-com and I was the CRAZY Kramer-type who drew comics about dinosaurs that rape people. But nahh I just keep my comic stuff to myself and you CRAZY JERKS! Good luck with that but do you really need to show your porn to your parents? and... Hi Sydney's mom! |
Oh dude Brentos, I meant about being Gay! But I'm sorry to hear about your situation, I hope things improve for you. |
@ Brentos: Rule #1 of the fandom is "You don't talk about the fandom." Rule #2 of the fandom is "You don't talk about the fandom." Rule #3 of the fandom is "Use SOAP, you filthy con-going furries!" Also, big cities aren't ALL that artsy. The White areas in the business districts or just off the inner-shitty... maybe. The failed Metropolises of the neighbouring cites are more likely. Besides, I met some Etsy/artsy-types in a suburban Wal-Mart only yesterday! BTW: I like your spelling (typo?) of "ahtwork." Makes you sound like a Kennedy. Drink up! @Sydney: I see now -- it's a CLOSET door. But, you drew so much vag here? |
Well vaginas and boobies are still very nice things. I just prefer the dong more |
Okay now it's making sense. But holy crap I didn't even know you were gay. Seriously I didn't know! But right on I hope it works out for them, as in they realize everyone's different and we're well into the 21st century here. If it doesn't you can always pray to jesus for a cure. And no problem with my situation, I actually enjoy having the secret identity of a comic artist, even if it is a 'furry' one... Sakana: I haven't seen those rules for some time. And I think Wac's the one who coined the term for ahtwork that old sawflob. |
Wait.. I'm missing something here? Fight Club references plus dongs and vaginas? Not sure what's going on. |
Oh... I'm kind of slow. I see what you meant. But... wasn't your sexual orientation "furry" in the first place? Not that it changes much... we are all Deep Thinking Perverts here. |
@ Brentos: I don't know how you ever saw those rules, inasmuch as I just made them up and first published here and now. |
Long ago there was a discussion on the old VCL forum about rules for attending cons. It was short and to the point and I think the last rule was about furries not bathing. I remember someone else who attended cons quickly agreed that some furries should bathe more. It struck me as odd that someone would go to a con and not bathe the whole weekend but apparently it did/does happen. Your list of rules reminded me of that so I thought it was the same list going around after all these years. |

All dolled up for Dejection. Sorta. |

I think it looks pretty badass. I also super love drow. I'm working on my second drow cosplay now. I like the effect on the sword and armor too! |
Holy... This calls for an Oh Yeah I say I must say... This ROCKS, Syd. Excellent use of darkness here while not obscuring the details. Brilliant! |
this is great! |
That blue flame sword is too cool! |

You know, I've been on DTP since I was 16. I'm 23 now. Don't really feel like anything's changed. Including my shitty style. WIP. |
Self-loathing Sean is wrong -- style is no longer shitty: no one complains about your drawings anymore. This is good perspective (apart from the slat spacing on the headboard) and a good, clean drawing -- finish it! |
Sakana's right. Not only has your art improved (and is still improving) but your attitude as well. A lot has changed, but it's always easier to see from the outside. An artist is always his/her own worst critic. I know how much it sucks to feel stagnant, but you aren't. keep truckin. |
Lying awake in bed, thinking about stuff (or maybe not). Ahhhh... |
This is excellent, this is the kind of drawing that would make a comic look good. Fast drawering too! Awesome! |
awww, I hope you weren't looking for a pity party... Your work has improved Immensely! And you are no longer the "butt" on the board anymore! Give your art and attitude a little pat on the back! |
Dude I've been on DTP for long time too and I have seen your style improve a lot but most important I have seen you keep trying and never giving up, even when some of the comments were not very nice. You have a great style now. Now color this. |
Dan Whitney and Trevor Merton. Two english blokes from Lancashire trying to make a living as graphic designers. Problem is, they can't bloody agree on anything. But when inspiration hits, its amazing what they can do, and then inevitably botch up. White Pixels, weeknights at 8 on BBC Two. |
One day I'll have a desk like that...then I'll go back to using a bit of cardboard on my lap You've gotten better |
You've improved a metric shit tonne. Been taking classes? |
nice!. mad props on the detailed background. i hate those things. (Edited on May 31, 2011, 8:52 pm) |
This is such a awesome pic in every way. The depth and shading on the chair and table, the figure construction, their expressions... Great picture! I'd like to see it get archived just for the background alone. I don't know if I've ever presented you with an Oh Yeah before so OH YEAH Sydney... |
Excellenticious work. I love all the details that make the office environment. Is this from a TV show? you should do furry versions of them! |
nicely done you have improved tremendously I love the little fishie in the water cooler |
Hi there. I'm Sydney. I draw things. I used to be a guy named Sean. |
Welcome back!!! |
This is a lot more impressive then what you used to draw. The chest is a little flat and the top looks painted on instead of cloth, but the head is good. |
Oh yeah! Welcome back to this wacky place. All you fuckfaces should draw here more. Seriously! Fuck. But where was I? Your art the last few years is looking really good. That's where. |
i remember you! |
What. |
Ahh Sam, never change. |
