Problem with short tags and boot.php?

I've installed the latest version of Wacintaki, uploading all files in ASCII, and I've CHMOD'ed the required folders. The install.php page worked just fine, but when I refreshed, I couldn't see it anymore, and I got this error when I tried to access my oekaki directory:

Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in /data/members/free/tripod/uk/k/i/t/kitsumi/htdocs/oekaki/boot.php on line 48

Warning: ini_set() has been disabled for security reasons in /data/members/free/tripod/uk/k/i/t/kitsumi/htdocs/oekaki/boot.php on line 49
Sorry, OP requires PHP setting "short_open_tag" to be "On", and the override didn't work. Contact your admin for help.

I searched for related topics in the forum, but I couldn't really find anything that could help. Should I contact the website administrators?

(By the way, if you need to know, my oekaki's address is http://members.lycos.co.uk/kitsumi/oekaki/ . )

Re: Problem with short tags and boot.php?

Well, obviously the board can't run the test for short tags properly, so you'll need a custom boot.php that doesn't have the test.  I'll have to figure out a workaround for 1.3.8, I guess.

Boot.php

If your server has short tags turned off, however, you won't be able to run the board.  See if this works, first.

Re: Problem with short tags and boot.php?

The custom boot.php seems to work when I used it, and I can see the installation page properly again. But afterwards I looked at the main page and there was a fatal error.

What should I do now?

By the way, thank you for your help. ^^

Re: Problem with short tags and boot.php?

Are you sure it's there and wasn't corrupted on upload?  I tried viewing "boot.php" directly and got a 404 error.  It would be a good idea to delete the old boot.php first, rather than trying to overwrite it.

Re: Problem with short tags and boot.php?

I actually decided to find a new server to create an oekaki. With a different webhost, the oekaki seems to be working just fine now.

Thank you very much for your help, though. ^^
