Re: How to prevent spam comments?

That depends what kind of comments they are.

There's a few filters in Wacintaki that blocks comments with certain link patterns, or too many links.  Other than that, there's not much else.  My own forum has been hit by these spam attacks.  At first, it was tons of links to porn sites and stuff, but now it's just random garbage.  If spam is a major problem, the only thing you can do it turn guest commenting off, as I had to do on this forum.

As for deleting multiple posts, I'm afraid I haven't added any code to the board to do that, yet.  Perhaps I can make a quick hack to the "Delete Comments" admin menu, like I did with the mailbox.  I've been putting it off because Wax Poteto is way behind schedule.

Re: How to prevent spam comments?

I deleted all the spam comments from database by using some SQL commands smile

I think maybe 1 link is enough for comments from guests.

BTW, have you thought adding some new functions to precent spam? When I registered, I saw a math question which I needed to answer to get though.  For example, 1+3=? the answer is 4. Maybe you can take the same way, when a guest want to post a comment, he need to answer a math question too. It's  a good way to prevent bot spamming. What do you say?

That's what I want to do for guest posts, as an option.  The hard part is updating the config files to add it to the control panel.  The control panel and installer need a total overhaul.

I can imagine how hard it is, but I think we users have enough patience.   smile
