You'll have to re-upload all the applets (files that end in ".jar" and ".zip"), as well as all the PNG and GIF images that come with the board. They are all corrupt.
Some FTP programs don't handle these kinds of files correctly, or your FTP client might be set to the wrong mode. Most of the time, they should be set to "Auto" (as opposed to "Binary" or "ASCII"). If Auto mode doesn't upload images correctly, you might have to explicitly set the mode to Binary to upload images, applets, and ZIP files.
If that's not the problem... uh, maybe you're having connection problem with the server? You could try another FTP client. They all behave differently.
