Bandwidth usage varies wildly.  My board says I've had 1,300 active members within the last 60 days, and I'm averaging about 6GB a month for bandwidth, and I get about 1-2 new posts a day.  My oekaki isn't very active in terms of new posts, but it does get a lot of page views and comments.  I also have the chat room disabled.

In general, you should budget at least 1GB of bandwidth per month for an oekaki, assuming you'll be getting more than one or two new posts a week.  Uploaded images complicate matters.  I haven't used Funpic in a while, so I don't know if there's a bandwidth meter available.  Some oekakis I know have massive numbers of posts with a small number of members, like, 30 a day, and those boards will really tax the server.  It all boils down to how many new images will be downloaded per page view.  A bandwidth meter is the only sure way to know for sure how much you'll need in the near future.

If you're tight on bandwidth, you definately want to have the chat room disabled.  I've made a lot of progress on making the board use less bandwidth, but the chat room is pretty hopeless.

Okay so there's a chance that I can to set up the board on the GoNintendo mainserver, the only question is how much bandwidth the board takes up. Any help here?

Also thank you so much for all the help thus far! I really appreciate it!

I use exofire.net, but I don't think they allow nudity/pornography/sexually orientated images. The TOS is very vague on the subject. And they keep changing stuff, so the oekaki keeps needing editing. If you find a good free host, tell me. yikes

I have a few host packages at KWIHosting. I've never had any problems with them and they're not too expensive. You can even resell part of your hosting service to recoup some of the costs.

LOL.  I just went to your board, and even the ads are broken.  smile

ZZHosting offers a great budget package, has good reviews, and does not have a setup fee.  You will have to pay extra to get a domain name if you want one (with many hosts, this is part of the setup fee).  Adult content is not allowed.

My site is hosted by CWIhosting.com.  I like it, but it's a bit expensive.

As for free hosting, I haven't a clue.  Funpic used to be good, but then they revamped their ad and security policies half a year ago, and since then I've heard nothing but horror stories.

I've been using funpic, and the the ads are really bugging me. No to mention that every once in a while the server goes down and pictures get corrupted when uploading and other hiccups.

Is there any alternative you can recommend?

Thanks!

Anyway there's the site I've setup at the moment.
