I just updated the 5.5.5 patches after you alerted me to this problem (I didn't feel like making it 5.5.6).
Download that "new functions file" I posted above and the news editor should work fine.

Yes, I uploaded that version yesterday to replace 5.5.4. It still isn't working???

Good grief... that's been broken since 5.5.3.

I fixed the background not showing up part.

I am not able to edit the news. Anything I put in there does not show up. I also noticed that when I open the news window, the template background image does not show up. http://acwitness.org/oekaki/
Can you help me fix this?
