From what I can tell, Synthasite is an integrated editing system for building web pages, and cannot run scripts, so it wouldn't work.
There are a lot of free hosts out there, but the problem is that compatibility is spotty. More and more hosts are not capable of supporting the oekaki due to anti-spamming policies.
I'm looking into Leadhoster.com at the moment. It doesn't over-promise like a lot of free hosts do, so it might be quite legit. 5GB of bandwidth doesn't sound like much, but my site has over 1,300 active members, and uses about 6-8 GB of traffic a month. The question is whether fopen() wrappers will work, which is a major problem on a lot of free hosts these days. The paint applets won't work without this feature.
Freehostia.com is another host people have told me about, but I recall some obscure problems with that host. That's the one that returns the dreaded "22 nah... it will not work!" message for some bizarre reason.

Synthasite doesn't say how much bandwidth or space that you are allowed on your domain name site. I've been hosted on OekakiArt for more than three years and although I'm allowed to have 1 GB of free disk space, the total disk space usage is around 8 MB to 10 MB.

I used to have my oekaki site hosted on Lycos more than five years ago, but due to a site glitch that threatened to shut my site down, because my site had received less than 50 unique pageviews over the last month, I had to move to a new host.

Wait, I just read about Funpic not being so Fun. 
Anyone recommend a free place with lots of bandwidth? Unlimited bandwidth would be great. XD
