When Wax hit version 5.6, it started using the same config file and database as Wacintaki.  However, there are version markers in place, so just importing a Wax database into Wacintaki won't work.  Also, Wacintaki and Wax have different resource files, which you will have to move manually.  The updater can't do this for you due to permission issues.  Updating from Wax to Wacintaki is much like updating from OekakiPoteto to Wacintaki.

Obviously, it's best to try this out first on a backup of your board.  It's good that you know how to make database backups!

NOTE:  I have noticed a problem with the 1.3.10 updater that causes some JPEG uploads to be incorrectly cleaned out when converting to the new sorting system.  Before doing an update, [use this 1.3.11 updater] in place of the one that comes with 1.3.10.

1) Make sure to update to the latest version of Wax with the appropriate patch.

2) Make sure the version of Wacintaki you have is 1.3.9 or higher.  Older versions will not update properly from Wax 5.6.  You'll need the full distribution of Wacintaki, not one of the smaller patches.

3) Delete the language and templates folders from the server.  Wacintaki will not work with Wax language or template packs.

4) Copy the Wacintaki folders from the distro to the server, overwriting what's there.  CHMOD the resource and templates folders to 775 or something writable.

5) Move the following files (if they exist) from the oekaki folder into the new resource folder:  "banner.php", "hosts.txt", "ips.txt", "notice.php".  CHMOD them to 664 or something writable.

6) If you have any news items you want to keep, copy them to a text file.  Wacintaki does not support the "news" feature.

7) At this point, the resource files are all set.  Copy all the base files from the Wacintaki distro to the server, overwriting everything.  Copy the 1.3.11 updater into place to preserve JPEG uploads.

8) View the board from your web browser, and it should redirect you to the updater.  Run the updater, and it will clean up any excess files automatically.

9) Log in as the owner, and view the diagnostics page to make sure nothing is locked/broken.

10) If something goes wrong, let me know.  Database quibbles, including login issues, are usually easy to fix with a short script.

Really all I want to do is keep the same users from the wax poteto board when I switch to wacintaki, although keeping everything would be nice too (if possible).

I have already tried to do this in a test board by importing the same database and it was halfway successful...all of the users transfered and could be logged in, but the administrator account was not created and the board could not be edited. Not even the old boards admin account could edit.

Please let me know if this is possible to do.
